The awning rests snugly on the top sash of your window with just a 3mm profile. As a result, the window may not be able to fully lock. By comparison, portable AC units are vented out of the window with a 150mm gap. If you are concerned about security, we recommend using a window restrictor and/or avoid installing on easily accessible windows, such as those at ground-level. You could also remove it when leaving the house. Please assess your own security needs when using the awning.

By design, our awnings can be adjusted by folding the awning cover over the flat bar support arms.

Measure your window and adjust the size of the awning accordingly. Then pull the top sash down, clamp on the awning, and push the top sash back up. Voila!

The current awning design is specifically for sash windows that open from both the top and the bottom. While we are starting with sash windows, we hope to develop products for other window types in the future.

The awning has been third-party tested for wind safety and received a rating comparable to other awnings. The wind safety rating is up to 24mph (Class 2). On hot summer days, wind is typically calm between 5-10mph. In windy or stormy conditions, the awning should be removed.
The awning fabric is waterproof and since it is positioned at an angle, rain should just fall off. If you notice your awning collecting water, it’s possible the arms need to pulled father apart. The awning fabric should be taut.

Our awning is entirely demountable and flexible. Unlike traditional awnings that have a permanent, year-round presence, you can take Shaded on and off with ease whenever you need it. No planning permission required.

Yes, significantly. Internal blinds and curtains might help a little, but by the time the sun hits them, the heat has already passed through the glass and become trapped inside your home. Shaded blocks the sun's heat before it can enter the building.

Yes! One of the core benefits of our "design for disassembly" approach is that the individual components of the awning are separate and modular. This means you can easily swap out the fabric for a new color or pattern without needing to replace the entire awning structure. While we currently offer three curated colourways, we are already planning future collaborations with artists and designers to bring unique, limited-edition patterns to your windows.

For intermittent cleaning, wipe down the fabric awning with a damp cloth or sponge. At the end of the season, you can machine wash the fabric awning on a cold water (20C) gentle cycle. Allow to dry completely before storing away for the season in its box.
